Our COVID-19 Statement
March 14, 2020
In response to the dynamic coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, I'd like to outline the steps that Family Promise of Greater Beloit (FPGB) is taking. While we remain focused on our mission to provide shelter to homeless families who are equally affected by this pandemic, we are also committed to the health and safety of our volunteers.
We are in contact and being guided by Family Promise National (FP Nat’l), who has been a tremendous resource to FPGB. Further, we are monitoring information provided by both the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
To protect the health of our many, dedicated volunteers, our staff, and our guest families, we have temporarily suspended having our guest families stay at our host congregations on a rotational schedule. Instead, the guest families will be housed at a local, secure location. We are requesting that our congregational partners and volunteers continue, as able, to provide dinners for our guest families. The FPGB staff will work with our volunteer coordinators to organize meal delivery.
Please know that we screen our families for signs of illness prior to acceptance into our program and that strategies are in place if someone begins to show concerning symptoms. We ask our volunteers to self-monitor their own health to protect our staff and guest families. Volunteers should use their own judgement and common sense to determine if they are able to provide meals.
This temporary suspension of our congregational rotation program for housing families is currently scheduled for the next four weeks. We will be closely monitoring the evolving guidelines from the CDC, HUD, and FP Nat’l and will react accordingly.
Thanks to all of our volunteer partners for your time, patience and goodwill as we protect our families and communities in this emergency. If you have any questions, please call our office at (608) 363-0683.
